The European Union has proposed a new package of sanctions targeting Russia and its associates, aiming to tighten measures since the invasion of Ukraine and add more economic operators. The proposal will now be discussed among the 27 member states in order to reach a unanimous decision. Talks have focused on imposing export restrictions on Russia's diamond industry. The proposal comes after a visit by Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to the EU Commission.
