Angered attendants of woman vandalised the hospital properties.
Notably, the mishap occurred minutes after the woman gave birth to a baby girl. The SSP added, “She was being transferred to a room from the operation theatre.” Amid this, the lift belt broke, and her neck was stuck in the gates, resulting in a severe fracture.
“We have lodged an FIR under BNS section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against the hospital’s owner, the treating Dr Kavita (only first name available), and hospital staff for not helping to rescue the woman,” the SSP further said.
Chief medical officer Ashok Kataria said that the lift's maintenance records are being scrutinised; if we find any negligence, strict action will be taken.
An hour after the incident, cops reached the medical facility and managed to recover the corpse of the woman. “Upon recovering the woman, she was sent to another private hospital where the doctors declared her ‘brought dead,’” SP City Ayush Vikram Singh added.
However, by this time, angered attendants of the woman vandalised the hospital properties. As soon as the chaos erupted, attendants of the other 13 patients shifted them to another hospital.
Along with the woman, two members from the hospital staff also got stuck inside but managed to get rescued with minor injuries. So far, no arrest has been made.
Akansha is survived by her husband, Ankush Mavi, who works in the Indian Army, and a daughter. Mavi said that her elder daughter was waiting for a phone call from her mother; she is constantly asking for her mother, but we don't have any answer.
