'Diet for cancer': After backlash, Navjot Singh Sidhu refers to doctors as ‘gods’

AMRITSAR: Despite objections from Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital regarding Navjot Singh Sidhu’s claims that herbs aided the recovery of his wife’s cancer, the Sidhu couple on Monday released a detailed plan outlining lifestyle changes and dietary adjustments.
At the same time, Sidhu emphasised he holds doctors in the highest regard, referring to them as “gods” and clarified that all of his wife’s treatment was carried out under the guidance of medical professionals.

Talking to media here, Sidhu said he was releasing the diet plan for “Sarbat da Bhala” and will release it on all platforms. However, he said this diet plan was implemented as “sehyogi parkriya” (cooperative process) with the treatment of her wife’s cancer.
Earlier, Sidhu had stressed on the use of herbs that helped his wife recover from cancer, a claim that led Tata Memorial Hospital to release a statement on Nov 23 referring to consuming turmeric and neem while pointing out that these statements have no high-quality evidence to support them.
The diet plan released by Sidhu couple mentions, “My wife’s cancer journey involved surgeries, chemotherapy, hormonal and targeted therapy, positivity and determination to fight cancer which was facilitated by a strict diet plan inspired by ancient Indian ayurveda, the Nobel Prize winning research of Yoshinori Ohsumi for ‘discoveries of the mechanism for autophagy’ and observations of eminent doctors worldwide.”
