Bihar CM proposes to raise caste quota cap to 65% after tabling caste survey details in assembly

The economic details of the Bihar caste survey have been released, revealing that 34.1% of households in the state are poor, earning less than Rs 6,000 a month. The survey also found that over 50 lakh Biharis live outside the state for work or education. The report acknowledged considerable poverty among upper castes, with over 25% living in poverty. The most economically well-off among the upper castes were the Kayasthas. Among Muslim upper castes, 39595 people of Sheikh caste have government jobs which is 0.79 per cent of their actual population.
