The Nasa-Isro Synthetic Aperture Radar (Nisar) satellite, set to launch in 2024, will provide researchers with unprecedented insight into Earth's forests and wetlands. The mission aims to understand how changes in these ecosystems impact the global carbon cycle and climate change. Nisar will scan the entire land and ice surfaces of Earth every 12 days, using advanced radar technology to track land-cover changes and study the movement of carbon between the atmosphere, land, ocean, and living organisms. The data will contribute to understanding deforestation.
