New Trump Movie
Deadline reported that the Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Sebastian Stan will be portraying Trump in the film The Apprentice, which is set to be directed by the Cannes prize-winning Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbassi (Holy Spider). Production began this week for the movie, which will also star the Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jeremy Strong (“Succession”) as the attorney Roy Cohn and Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) as Ivana Trump, the first wife of the former president.
The Messenger reported that The Apprentice is described as “an exploration of power and ambition set in a world of corruption and deceit. It’s a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of an American dynasty. Filled with larger than life characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.”
The movie will revolve around Trump’s early days in real estate in the 1970s and 1980s, according to Variety. The Hill reported that the film was written by journalist Gabriel Sherman and executive produced by the “Loudest Voice in the Room” writer Grant Johnson and Amy Baer in association with Kinematics as the financier. The producers of the movie include Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films, Profile Pictures’s Jacob Jarek, and Ruth Treacy of Tailored Films.
