An Indian-origin student pursuing a master's degree at the University of Tasmania is in a medically induced coma after being assaulted. A suspect has been taken into custody and charged with criminal assault. The student, in his 20s, had extra jural bleeding that caused his brain to shift. His right lung collapsed and he had to undergo brain surgery. The University of Tasmania has appointed a complex case manager and provided support to the student and his family.
