KASARAGOD: Kerala’s firefighters recently responded to an unusual emergency, assisting doctors in removing a 1.5-inch metal nut that had become stuck on a 46-year-old man's genitals in Kanhangad, Kasaragod district.
The peculiar incident unfolded when the man arrived at the Kasaragod district hospital late Tuesday, alleging that unidentified individuals had inserted the metal nut onto his genitals while he was intoxicated and unconscious.
He claimed he had been attempting to remove it for two days before seeking medical help, overwhelmed by severe pain and difficulty passing urine.
When doctors were unable to remove the nut, hospital authorities reached out to the local Kanhangad fire station for assistance. A team, led by fire officer KM Shiju, worked for nearly an hour using a metal cutter to free the man.
To prevent burns from the heat generated by the cutting process, they continuously poured water to keep the area cool.
