Nigerian authorities are working to contain an oil spill at the Total Energies operated Egina field. The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (Nimasa) is collaborating with other agencies to contain the spill and protect the marine environment and local communities. Total Energies is providing aerial surveillance and considering further action for cleanup. Oil spills have been a longstanding issue in Nigeria's Niger River delta region.
