Mumbai Indians' owner, Nita Ambani, had to cover her ears as MS Dhoni received a thunderous reception when he came out to bat during the IPL 2025 match between CSK and MI at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (March 23).
Seated just outside the boundary, Ambani was watching the game closely. When Dhoni walked in at No. 8 in the 19th over after the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja, the home crowd erupted in cheers.

The roar was so overwhelming that Ambani had to close her ears, unable to withstand the massive noise due to 'Thala's entry.
CSK were chasing a target of 156 runs and successfully crossed the finish line with just five deliveries remaining and four wickets in hand.
While MS Dhoni finished unbeaten on 0 runs off 2 balls, the home team kicked off their IPL 2025 campaign on a positive note.
Dhoni has been a pivotal part of CSK since the league's inception, playing a significant role in leading the franchise to five IPL titles and establishing them as one of the most successful teams in IPL history.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, CSK retained Dhoni for ₹4 crore under the 'uncapped player' category. Ruturaj Gaikwad took over as captain starting in IPL 2024, and Dhoni is no longer leading the side.
He has scored a total of 4,669 runs for CSK and currently ranks just behind Suresh Raina as the franchise’s leading run-scorer in IPL history. Dhoni needs only 19 more runs to surpass his former India and Chennai teammate and further cement his legacy as a CSK player.
