Meerut ex-merchant navy murder case: 'What has happened has happened, but i am proud of her parents who are seeking death penalty for her'

NEW DELHI: Muskan Rastogi, accused of murdering her husband, former merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput, is confronting an extraordinary plea for retribution from her own parents, who have vehemently advocated for capital punishment. Their resolute position has garnered substantial commendation from Times of India (TOI) readers.
"What has happened has happened, but I am proud of her parents who are seeking the death penalty for her," a TOI reader commented.

Another remarked, "Glad to see that in an era where Section 498 is being used indiscriminately, the girl’s parents have come forward and are asking the authorities to hang her. Kudos!"

A third reader expressed, "Proud of their parents for not blindly supporting their child. No one deserves such kids. Immediate justice should be given."

"What her father said is absolutely correct - unfit for society and cannot exist on this earth - in fact both of them should be hanged because they killed him together," another reader commented.

'Unfit for society'
Muskan’s parents have distanced themselves from their daughter, demanding the strictest punishment. "That kid (Saurabh Rajput) was a good man. We demand justice and want her to be hanged till death," her mother said. Her father echoed the sentiment, stating, "My daughter killed her husband. She is unfit for society and a danger to everyone. I would advise others not to take such steps. She should be hanged till death."
Meanwhile, Muskan's behaviour in jail has become concerning, as she exhibits signs of emotional distress. Reports indicate she maintains isolation, consumes minimal food and requests injections frequently. Her partner and fellow accused, Sahil Shukla, is experiencing agitation due to cannabis withdrawal, according to a jail official's statement on Saturday.
The autopsy findings of Saurabh Rajput uncovered horrific details of the murder. The examination showed fatal stab wounds penetrating his heart, decapitation, and amputation of both hands at the wrists. His legs were discovered contorted backwards, indicating attempts to compress the body to fit within a drum.
Medical professionals determined that Saurabh's death resulted from acute shock and extensive haemorrhage. "The blows from the sharp long knife pierced deep inside the heart," a doctor said.
Ayush Vikram Singh, who serves as the superintendent of police (City), provided verification of the post-mortem examination results. "Muskan brutally stabbed Saurabh in his heart, puncturing it. His neck was severed, and both palms were cut off. The body was cut into four pieces to fit it in the drum," he stated.
The medical examiners provided additional specifics about the methods used to hide evidence. "It was put in the drum and then filled with dust and cement. The body solidified in the cement and did not rot due to the lack of air. The smell was not extremely foul," a post-mortem team member said.
